It was my dream and passion to create something new and unique. So, I took up the challenge to develop a lesser known habitat called “Pailan” teeming with underprivileged people, situated adjacent to the well established Joka suburbs of Kolkata in the state of West Bengal.In 1989, I nurtured an ambitious project called Pailan Park Project which ultimately culminated into today's Bengal Pailan Park “a mega city in the making”, through a joint venture initiative West Bengal Transport Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited and Pailan Park Authority Limited.I realized that as a dreamer, I should not only develop land to build exotic buildings, but should also build human resources which will ultimately be assets of our nation, and I will have the satisfaction of creating something new and novel. With this realization, I lost no time to direct my effort and energy towards creation of centre of excellence in professional learning.

Four professional colleges were set up (Pailan College of Management and Technology, Pailan School of International Studies, Trident College of Marine Technology and Pailan Aviation Institute) to cater the needs of aspirants for professional courses like management and engineering. Two of these colleges are ISO certified. The management and engineering colleges are approved by AICTE and affiliated to West Bengal University of Technology. With confidence gathered over the years in this endeavour, Pailan College of Education has launched its unique B.Ed. programme which imparts liberal education to students and to produce intellectually sound, morally upright, socially concerned and spiritually oriented teachers who will serve not only the schools for which the course is designed but also the community at large, meeting the challenges of a rapidly changing world. It is our endeavour to equip competent, qualified, ignited, farsighted, responsible and innovative teachers for the society by imbibing in them a desire of excellence, development of right attitudes, virtues and qualities of head and heart. We have the mission to develop the intellectual and creative faculties of our trainee teachers to enable them not only to withstand the changes in the field of education but also to lead by innovative initiatives. Teachers stimulate intellectual curiosity and inculcate the spirit of enquiry, of a national and scientific outlook. But to know is not enough. If there is desire to share the knowledge, then it is also essential to know how to do it. The essence of all good teaching is growth. For this, one should remain interested and involved in exploring all the methods of communication. Students imbibe not merely the faculty of reasoning and analysis but more significantly, subtly and unconsciously the ethics, ideas, code of living from the teacher. The teacher transfers his own joy and satisfaction to the students. Each student is a challenge to a competent teacher and even if one among a thousand fulfils his promise, his joy is beyond measure. Teaching is a profession, a strenuous effort and pleasure of giving. It is a life to which one must give oneself wholly and entirely. It is a process of individual redemption and in it lies the redemption of the society.
