ORIENTATION, FRESHERS’ WELCOME AND SPLURZ

We believe that it is critical that institutions promote a sense of confidence among every student entering the portals of higher education. It is important that the natural anxiety among the 'freshers' is addressed by institutional authorities. With this end in view, on the first day of each academic session, we organize an orientation programme to enable the 'freshers' to familiarize themselves with the campus environment and adjust to the new atmosphere. We urge the new students to take pride in being a part of an institution which is committed to impart holistic education in the best possible manner. This proves beneficial in building and consolidating a definite sense of bonding among the 'freshers' who would be better equipped with confidence to deal with the new environment and the new set of people. Apart from the orientation programme, every year two fun filled events in the form of “FRESHERS’ WELCOME” (CROESO) and the ANNUAL FEST( SPLURZ) are held. Mingling fun and frolic PAILAN provides the students some opportunities to prove their talent through various competitions and sprinkles refreshment through celebrity performances.
WALL MAGAZINE

As a teacher training institution, Pailan College of Education epitomizes eternal enlightenment much like the ablutionary and refreshing effect of the first ray on each new day. From the darkness that still shrouds our society, our students seek redemption in the form of creativity titled as ‘Srijoni’.

EDUCATIONAL TRIP

Every year, we make it a point to take our students to places of interest where natural beauty offers itself in an unadulterated form. It provides an opportunity to the students to break away free from the pressure and grind of regular classroom activities and the burden of studies. Such trips help to strengthen the bond between the trainee-teachers and the teacher-educators. Though it is termed as an educational trip, the quotient of entertainment involved in it cannot be undermined.
TEACHERS’ DAY

Our administrative heads and our students get into a secret mission to put up surprises amazing enough to sweep the teachers off their feet on Teachers’ Day. Propelled by love and respect, the students leave no stone unturned to organize an entertaining programme without affecting the sanctity of the occasion. In a celebration marked by songs, dance and skits, the students recognize and acknowledge the medium that bridges the gulf between the unknown and the known.

TRIBUTE TO TIMELSSS TAGORE

The essence called Rabindranath Tagore is thoroughly annealed in the culture, tradition and heritage of all Bengalis. On the birthday of the unfathomable ocean called Rabindranth, we worship him with the pearls he offered throughout his life. We talk about him, about the various aspects of his creation, the wide spectrum of his thoughts, the versatility of his genius, and the more we talk the more we are filled with awe and reverence for the great bard. His immortal poems are recited, his ageless songs are sung to offer our humble homage to the great soul who has given all the Bengalis a concrete reason to be proud of. The students perform ‘Rabindra-Nritya’ to add diversity to our celebration. On the twenty second day of ‘Shravan’ a perpetual void was created in this world when this parallel creator left for his heavenly abode. With a heavy heart, we observe this day, being painfully aware that the loss is irrevocable but at the same time a feeling of pride fills our heart with the realization that the bard's rich, diverse and vast literary oeuvre is virtually unmatched in the world.
INDEPENDENCE DAY AND REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATION

“I vow to thee, my country, all earthly things above/ Entire and whole and perfect, the service of my love” It is our endeavour to make the students of our institution inculcate the belief that patriotism as an emotion should not be limited to two days but it should be a flame burning for ever in the heart as long as it beats. It is conveyed to them that very few sights in the world are as satisfying as that of the national flag solemnly fluttering in the breeze. With this end in view, every year the occasions of our country’s independence and the formulation of our constitution are celebrated with much gusto. Both the programmes start off with our honorable Chairman, Mr. Apurba Saha, hoisting the flag amidst the National Anthem resonating within the premises.
Patriotic songs sung by the teachers as well as the students punctuate the speeches delivered by our venerable administrative heads, teachers and students. All the words spoken on these two occasions pertain to the glory of our land, the pride of being a part of it, the honour of being the successors of so many heroic souls that voluntarily sacrificed themselves at the altar of the country, and the responsibilities that have come upon as for enjoying the hard earned freedom. The element of elegance gets introduced in the programmes when our students put up stellar dance performances to pay their homage to the nation. Seeing the enthusiasm with which the students celebrate the occasions, it can be said that our students can die for the country but can never allow the country to die for them.

SEMINARS

Academic congregation is critical to a teacher’s role as an explorer of knowledge. Research, teaching and service can never take place in isolation. In fact, every domain of knowledge is enriched by the interactions of academics studying analogous, allied or even diverse things in different places. When academically inclined people assemble to share the repertoire of their lofty thoughts, there is a tremendous potential for leaps in knowledge and understanding. With profound faith in this belief, Pailan College of Education creates platforms for the dissemination of knowledge. Seminars, both national and international, are a part of its academic calendar.
